STAND is the prayer community of the Stand in the Gap Youth Prayer Conference. It is run by Generation Jesus, who is responsible for the information in it. This page explains, in plain words, what we keep about you, why, who can see it, and what you can do about it.
The short version
- We keep only what the app needs to work: your first name, email, birth year, and what you choose to post.
- Your email is never shown to other members. Your journal is only ever seen by you.
- No adverts, no tracking tools, and we never sell or rent your information.
- If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must say yes before you can post.
- You can download everything you’ve shared, or delete your account, at any time from Settings.
What we keep
- Your account: first name, email address and password. Your password is stored scrambled, so nobody, including us, can read it.
- Your age: we ask for your date of birth to check your age, then keep only the year.
- Your profile, if you add it: an emoji and colour, a few words about you, and your town or city.
- How you joined: who invited you (Cord of 3) or which conference QR code you scanned.
- If you are under 18: your parent or guardian’s name and email, and their answer.
- What you share: prayer requests, testimonies, comments, circle messages, Feed posts with their photos and videos, reactions, the gatherings you say you’re going to, challenges, and reading plan progress.
- Your prayer activity: the days you pray, so we can show your streak.
- Your journal: private reflections, visible only to you.
- Safety records: reports you send or that are about you, people you block, and a log of what moderators do.
- Settings: your notification and privacy choices.
When you upload a photo, we remove its location and camera details before saving it. Videos are made smaller on your phone before they upload.
Cookies and your device
We use one cookie, to keep you signed in. Your light or dark theme choice is saved on your own device. If you add STAND to your home screen, some app files are stored on your device so it opens quickly. We don’t use advertising or analytics cookies, and nothing tracks you across other websites.
Why we use it
- To run the prayer community: circles, the prayer wall, the Feed, events and notifications.
- To keep everyone safe, especially young people: checking ages and guardian permission, moderating posts, and dealing with reports.
- To send emails you need: your sign-up code, password resets, guardian permission requests, and notices if a moderator pauses your account. We don’t send marketing emails.
Who can see what
| Information | Who can see it |
|---|---|
| Your first name and picture | Other members |
| Your email address | Only you and STAND admins |
| Your profile (about you, badges) | Your choice in Settings: everyone, only your circles, or only you |
| Your town or city | Only if you choose to show it (never for under-18s) |
| Prayer wall posts and Feed posts | All members. If you hide your name on a prayer request, members can’t see it was you, but moderators can |
| Circle posts and messages | Members of that circle |
| Your journal | Only you |
| Your birth year | Not shown. Moderators see an “Under 18” label |
| Reports and the moderation log | Moderators and admins (the log: admins only). Nobody is told who reported them |
Moderators and admins are trusted adults chosen by Generation Jesus. They only use what they see to look after the community.
Who else handles it
We don’t sell, rent or trade your information. A few services help us run STAND and handle it only on our instructions:
- Our web host stores the app, the database, and your photos and videos, and keeps short-term server logs (including IP addresses) for security.
- Our email provider delivers the emails listed above.
- If we use a content delivery service (such as Cloudflare) to make the app faster and protect it from attacks, it passes on requests to the app and keeps copies of photos for a short time.
These services may store information in another country. We would only share information with others if the law requires it, or to protect someone who is in danger.
Young people
- STAND is for ages 13 and up.
- If you are under 18, we email your parent or guardian once you confirm your email address. Until they say yes, you can read and pray but not post.
- Under-18s start with a profile only their circles can open, and their town is never shown.
- There is no private messaging between members.
- A parent or guardian can change their answer at any time using the link in their email, or ask us to delete their child’s account by contacting a STAND leader or your youth leader.
How long we keep it
- Your account and posts: until you delete them or your account. Deleting your account removes your profile, posts, comments, messages, photos, videos and journal straight away.
- Sign-ups never confirmed by email: deleted after 7 days.
- Notifications: deleted after 60 days.
- Photos and videos a moderator removes: deleted straight away.
- The moderation log: kept for 24 months, so we can answer questions about safety decisions, then deleted. The details written in reports are cleared after 24 months too.
- Our web host keeps backups for a short time, after which deleted information is gone from them as well.
Your choices and rights
- See and download your information: Settings → Download my information.
- Correct it: edit your profile in Settings, or ask us.
- Delete it: delete any post, or your whole account from Settings → Delete my account.
- Control who sees you: profile visibility, hiding your name on a prayer request, and blocking.
- Control notifications: Settings → Notifications.
- Ask a question or make a complaint: contact a STAND leader or your youth leader. You may also have the right to complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Keeping it safe
Passwords and email codes are stored scrambled. The app uses a secure connection (HTTPS), limits repeated sign-in attempts, blocks phone numbers, links and social handles in posts, and keeps uploaded files from ever running as code. No system is perfect: if something goes wrong that affects your information, we will tell you.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. For important changes we’ll also tell you in the app.
